Calculator inputs

All calculators on PayoffRoute run entirely in your web browser. The financial information you enter — balances, rates, home values, payments — is never stored, logged, or transmitted to our servers or anyone else's. We could not read it if we wanted to: the maths runs on your device and the result never leaves it.

One detail worth knowing, because it happens on your device. So that you can bookmark a result or copy a link to it, each calculator writes the numbers you entered into the page's web address — the ? part at the end of the URL. Nothing is sent anywhere by this; it is your browser talking to itself. But it does mean your figures appear in the address bar and are saved in your browser's history. If you are on a shared or public computer, use a private window, or clear your history afterwards.

Information we collect automatically

Our hosting provider may keep standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, page requested) for security and performance.

We use one analytics tool, and we want to be exact about what it is: Cloudflare Web Analytics. It is the least invasive option we could find, and we chose it deliberately. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, does not fingerprint your browser, and cannot follow you to any other website. It counts page views and referrers in aggregate: it tells us which calculator was opened, never who opened it.

We do not use Google Analytics, tracking pixels, or session recording, and we never will while a cookieless alternative exists. We collect no names, no email addresses, and no account information, because there are no accounts. And the analytics never sees the one thing that actually matters — the balances, rates, and incomes you type stay in your browser, as described above.

Advertising

PayoffRoute runs no advertising. There are no ad scripts, no advertising cookies, and no advertising partners on this site.

That is not only a promise — it is enforced in the code. Every page ships a Content Security Policy that permits scripts from exactly two places: our own domain, and the cookieless analytics beacon named above. An advertising or tracking script from anywhere else could not load here even if someone added one by mistake — the browser would refuse it. You can check this yourself: open your browser's developer tools on any page of this site and watch the network requests. Our independence page explains how the site is funded instead.

Cookies & local storage

PayoffRoute sets no cookies at all — and neither does our analytics, which is precisely why we picked it. The only thing kept on your device is your light/dark theme preference, stored in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it next time. That single setting never leaves your device.

There are no third-party cookies here. The one third-party script on the site — the analytics beacon — writes nothing to your device at all. You can block or delete browser storage at any time without affecting the calculators.

Our content may link to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites and encourage you to read their policies.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

This page describes what the site does today, not what it might one day be allowed to do. If our data practices ever change — if advertising or analytics were ever introduced — we will update this page before that change goes live, and the "last updated" date above will say so. A privacy policy that pre-authorises things that do not exist is not a disclosure; it is a hedge, and we would rather tell you the truth about the site you are actually using.
